Developer Clarity Games is breaking the mould of what we’ve come to expect from the free-to-play market, especially in the card game space. Traditional card packs are gone, instead, players will have the option to buy a variety of cosmetics to customise their playing experiences, from emotes to alternative card art and game boards. Chroma will also feature both a free and premium battle pass at launch.

The launch is just the beginning

As with any card game, the launch is only the start of the journey, and Chroma is no different. The monetisation model of Chroma allows Clarity Games to step away from traditional ‘expansions’, offering the opportunity to release new cards in a more incremental process around ‘story-focussed’ events.

At launch, Chroma will offer:

  • Competitive matchmaking (Best of 1 and Best of 3 with sideboard)
  • Casual matchmaking, both PvE and PvP
  • Lore progression system, letting players learn the secrets of Arholt as they play the game
  • Spectate mode
  • Private matchmaking

Chroma: Bloom and Blight is launching on Windows PC on the 28th of January via Steam. The game will be live from 4 pm CET.
