Defeat an evil (and really cute) army with the power of your helmet in this free roguelike action arcade game, made by an independent studio that have previously worked on the Pokémon series.
METBOY! sees the titular character of Metboy defend the world of Metland against evil invaders that have arrived to steal the Seven Coloured Gem. Using the unique Blade Met combat, players will fling Metboy across 6 stages filled with imaginative and colourful characters. In order to save Metland, Metboy will need to defeat 6 unique, challenging bosses, fortunately there are a number of unlockable power ups that can be used to increase Metboy’s powers as they battle against the invaders.
If players are good enough, they can also unlock the phantom US version of METBOY!. This version of the game was apparently banned in Japan due to its extreme difficulty, and is now currently lying in a warehouse of Rebuild Games. Perhaps skilled players will be able to find out its secrets…
METBOY! was originally released in Japan in March 2020, developed by Hosaka Genya (programmer) and Aki Asaba (game designer) of Rebuild Games. Previously, the team had worked for Game Freak, with their most recent credit being on Pokémon Sword and Shield.
