The Kickstarter campaign for Sword Reverie, a JRPG inspired VR game, has hit its funding goal of $10,000 in just 3 days. Now it’s on its way to achieving stretch goals for Quest and PSVR support.
Earlier this year, indie VR developer Isekai Entertainment announced plans to launch Sword Reverie in Early Access by the end of 2020. However, Isekai Entertainment decided to delay their Early Access release of Sword Reverie to Spring 2021 and started a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the game’s future development. Backers can now choose to get Sword Reverie Early Access at a discounted price or pay a bit more to get alpha and beta access as soon as the Kickstarter campaign ends.
Sword Reverie is heavily inspired by anime and Japanese games. The main character’s design is inspired by Kirito from Sword Art Online. The enemies and environments in the game are also designed to make you feel like you are in an anime. When it comes to gameplay, Sword Reverie has a unique elemental combat system. Players can launch powerful abilities in VR using their body motions.
In Sword Reverie, you will be taught by the Guardian, Magnus (voiced by Sean Chiplock, dub voice actor for Subaru from Re:Zero) and fight alongside Stella (voiced by Kira Buckland, dub voice actor for 2B from Nier). Together you must defend the Kingdom of Newcrest from Elementals.
The developers at Isekai Entertainment have ambitious goals for Sword Reverie, including 5 maps and 3 bosses in a massive explorable world. If the Kickstarter campaign does well, the campaign has stretch goals for adding additional enemies, bosses, weapons, and skills into the game.
