Ninty Fresh, a new print Nintendo magazine smashes its target in 72 hours

Despite launching on Monday, there has been a lot of interest in Ninty Fresh – a new print Nintendo magazine – and it managed to hit its funding target in just over two hours. After a day it was already sitting at 200% and the time of writing the team are sitting on well over 350% with the best part of a month to run.

This forced the team to quickly add new stretch goal targets and now you can get some cool button badges of the various guises of the NES consoles, with the Famicom, the Toploader and of course, the original. At the time of writing, the top-level tiers have almost depleted, with around 100 premium options available for those desiring an enamel pin badge and a double-sided poster.

Ninty Fresh is an unofficial print Nintendo magazine, packed with the latest content, analysis and Switch reviews, blended with some quality retro Nintendo coverage. Think of it as ONM/NOM crossed with Retro Gamer, although unaffiliated with any of those publications.

This first issue will feature an interview with former NOM Editor, Tim Street, a NES retrospective from Chris Scullion, author of the NES Encyclopaedia, and a behemoth of a Super Mario feature with words from many that either used to write in ONM or still write about Nintendo games today.

The issue is themed to celebrate the huge achievement that is 35 years of Super Mario adventures, supplemented with amazing bespoke cover artwork and lots of other great features.

Contributors to this article include Damien McFerran, Jaz Rignall, Tom East, Chandra Nair, Kate Gray, Alex Dale, Daan Koopman, Mike Jackson and Joe Skrebels.

Ninty Fresh issue 1 is being funded through Kickstarter, with many different levels of support from a PDF or print copy to premium levels for those that want to grab a copy. Based in the UK, the magazine will ship worldwide and those interested will be able to support it via this link.

The magazine is a homage to the classic magazines that came before it, like ONM, N Gamer and many other greats, and if you feel that you miss those days then you can secure a print copy from just £5, or £2 for a PDF.

About Ninty Fresh Founded in May 2020, Ninty Fresh is an independent and unofficial Nintendo magazine covering many different aspects of the Japanese company’s games and systems. From the team behind Switch Player Magazine, each issue will be an eclectic mix of the present and past combined, with an overarching theme each issue, such as annual celebrations for franchises.
