Independent developers Catastrophic_Overload today launched their Special Competition Challenge for Wacky Physics Sports(-ish) Hotseat Party Game, Drink More Glurp, available as part of the annual Jingle Jam charity bundle.

Take on friends and compete for a podium place in the Special Competition Challenge of Catastrophic_Overload’s Wacky Physics Sports(-ish) Hotseat Party Game, available now

Drink More Glurp is a physics-powered pass-the-pad party game set on a distant world where alien sponsors have copied Earth’s Summer Games and got everything slightly wrong. Drink More Glurp puts players in control of their own noodle-armed galactic athlete to run, jump, throw and compete in a “sporting” contest for up to 20(!) local players and a world of competitors via global leaderboards.

See how it all comes together in the trailer here.

As astute observers of Earth TV, Drink More Glurp’s aliens think great competition is all about paid sponsorships. Sponsors have seized control of events and twisted them to fit their brand’s agenda, creating havoc for the alien athletes and keeping players constantly on their toes. What happens when Gravitol Weightloss lowers the world’s gravity, or when Electromagnetic Rave gives competitors LASER HANDS?

The Special Competition Challenge will give players a sampling of some of the dozens of events featured in DRINK MORE GLURP, proudly sponsored by interstellar brands such as Helium: The Noblest Gas and Master Cuffs. Players can challenge friends locally or climb the global leaderboards - with fantastic real-world prizes including a customised Drink More Glurp Nintendo Switch and merch bundles for the winning athletes*.

Drink More Glurp is quite hard to sum up in words,” says developer Joshua Burr. “But when you have it in your hands, wiggle the analogue sticks and see yourself move it’s like ‘ooh, I get it now.’ In seconds you’ll be inventing new ways of running and throwing.”

Drink More Glurp is a great spectator game too” said developer James Letherby. “Play it at a gaming meetup, when you’re hanging out with friends, at little Jimmy’s birthday party, or after some drinks on Christmas Day. It’s pure, silly fun for those playing and those watching along too.”

The Drink More Glurp Special Competition Challenge is available today as part of day five of the Yogscast Jingle Jam bundle. Available through Humble Bundle for a minimum donation of $30 and loaded with games, the Jingle Jam bundle is an unmissable annual purchase for PC players with a charitable heart and all proceeds will go towards charity.

The full version of Drink More Glurp, featuring dozens of competitive events and sponsors, launches in Spring 2020.
