AtomhawkWinner of the 2018 Art Challenge, now officially a member of the team.
Digital art and design company,
The Atomhawk Art Challenge ran in July of this year, inviting concept artists of all levels to create a scene or character based on the theme of “Into the Void”. Entries were judged on technical execution, creative flair and effective interpretation of the theme, with the winner and two runners up receiving high-end art equipment from sponsors, Wacom.
Morten says of entering the competition:
“I saw it advertised on ArtStation. I was looking to find a new job, so I thought the challenge would be a great way for Atomhawk to see my portfolio.”
Atomhawk ran its inaugural Art Challenge in 2017 but this is the first time the company has recruited one of the competition’s participants. The judges loved the story-telling and mood of Morten’s winning image, as well as the use of colour and rendering and were pleased to see the same qualities reflected throughout his portfolio.
“The image was the first thing that came to mind when I heard of the theme. I liked the idea of an innocent child being confronted with something so dramatic and dangerous. At the time I think I was inspired by Stranger Things, which reflects in the mood, lighting and setting.”
Morten has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Graphic Art from The Animation Workshop in Denmark and before joining Atomhawk worked at MPC Advertising in London creating concept art and matte paintings.
Atomhawk Managing Director, Tim Wilson, says:
“We’re delighted to welcome Morten to the team. Of the 200 entrants we had in this year’s competition, Morten’s entry really stood out and we look forward to seeing him make a great contribution to some of the exciting projects we’ll be working on in 2019.”
