Bodhi Linux 5.0.0 Released

Linux Updates

Today I am very pleased to share the hard work of the Bodhi Team which has resulted in our fifth major release. It has been quiet the journey since our first stable release a little over seven years ago and I am happy with the progress this projected has made in that time.

For those looking for a lengthy change log between the 4.5.0 release and 5.0.0, you will not find one. We have been happy with what the Moksha desktop has provided for some time now. This new major release simply serves to bring a modern look and updated Ubuntu core (18.04) to the lightning fast desktop you have come to expect from Bodhi Linux.

Bodhi 5.0.0 Disc Images

If you are unsure which disc image is best for you, please see our wiki page here detailing the difference between them. If you hit any issues, have a suggestion, or just want to let us know about something you like you can do so via our Linux Questions sub forum here, subreddit here, or our Discord channel here.

If you installed a pre-release of Bodhi 5.0.0 you will simply need to run your system updates to grab all the latest goodies that are in these ISO images. Keep in mind that system updates will not adjust the look of your desktop automatically though because this would require messing with custom configurations you might otherwise have already.

If you have a previous Bodhi release installed you will need to do a clean install to upgrade to Bodhi 5.0.0. We do not support in place upgrades between major Bodhi releases. Keep in mind that Bodhi 4.5.0 will have support until Ubuntu 16.04 runs out in April 2021 though, so there is no hurry to upgrade if you are happy with your existing system.

Below you can find some screenshots of our default look at feel across this release. Feel free to reuse these in any media sharing you do with regards to this release.
