Jan-Bart van Beek announced as new keynote speaker at devcom 2018
Studio Art Director of Guerilla Games will talk about „Horizon Zero Dawn“ development history
Gaming at a glance Jan-Bart van Beek, Studio Art Director of Guerilla Games, is today announced as one of the keynote speakers of this year’s devcom. The international developer conference will take place from August 19thto 20th directly prior to gamescom.
van Beek will talk about the development of the critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic action adventure Horizon Zero Dawn – which went from a crazy sounding idea to becoming one of the most successful new game franchises in recent years. He will offer a glimpse into how the world, the characters, and the iconic robot dinosaurs evolved from sketches, through to prototypes to finally emerging as a fully-fledged video game.
Jan-Bart van Beek is responsible for the art and animation of all of Guerilla Games‘ video games – a role for which his studies at university proved to be the perfect starting point. He studied photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague where he used computer graphics software to enhance his work. After graduation, he used his knowledge to work as a CGI artist in advertising. But his desire to create something more enduring led him to Guerilla, where he rose through the ranks to become the Lead Artist on Killzone , before finally making it to the top as Art Director.
Apart from Jan-Bart van Beek, other high caliber speakers such as Cory Barlog, Creative Director at Sony Santa Monica, Saralyn Smith, Senior Director of Global Community Development & Publishing Operations at Blizzard Entertainment and many more will be participating in devcom.
These confirmations are unfortunately accompanied by one cancellation: Peter Molyneux will not be able to attend devcom due to personal reasons.
