‘Avengers: Infinity War’ crushes box office again and passes $1B. After breaking opening weekend records, Disney’s “Avengers: Infinity War” continued to dominate in its second weekend in theaters. The movie drummed up $1B faster than any other film on the books, hitting the milestone just 11 days after its release.

It also helped Disney cross $3B in ticket sales at the 2018 global box office, the quickest any studio has reached the threshold in a given year. Read more here.

Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War has now topped $850M globally with $857.3M through Wednesday. The international box office portion of that is $534.7M off of a $32.2M haul in 52 offshore hubs yesterday. That’s a 50% drop from the offshore Tuesday take which had been boosted by the May Day holiday in many markets. This drop was expected.

Still, short of Thanos arriving on Earth with a gauntlet to thwart moviegoing, this Joe and Anthony Russo-helmed juggernaut is set for a speed record to $1B worldwide on Saturday.
