LOS ANGELES, April 13, 2018 –  The Executive Producer of Scopely’s Walking Dead: Road to Survival and the Studio Head of EA’s Pogo.com Shanghai have come together to create a new content platform for narrative-driven free-to-play experiences: Ordinal Games.

Ordinal seeks to create narrative experiences that compliment industry-leading RPG mechanics by offering player choice and immersion in ways the mobile market has yet to see.

Players will not only be able to engage in rich stories but also create their own, with sophisticated tools aimed at allowing creators the ability to craft their own narratives inside a robust free-to-play economy – and share in the revenue they generate.

“We see a greater level of narrative integration as the next step for mobile RPGs,” said Ordinal CEO Chris Pasley. “Character and narrative will be the keys to going beyond dry but effective mechanics and toward rich experiences that drive high retention – while also embracing what makes free-to-play work. Allowing players to create their own narratives inside our platform is one of the ways our games will be able to differentiate themselves – with vast amounts of creative, constantly refreshing content.”

“We’re uniquely situated to focus on telling epic stories. Whether they’re original creations or part of an existing IP the same values apply: authenticity, compelling characters, and engaging narratives,” said COO Alex Lien.  “We will be able to explore licensed worlds in ways other free-to-play game makers can’t.”

Ordinal will have two centers of operation: design and distribution in Los Angeles, and development in Shanghai.  The company is funded through seed investment and will be seeking select new investment partners to fuel further growth.
