San Jose, California – Insider Software today announced the immediate availability of FontAgent(R) Server 7, the world’s only object-based font server and the most advanced solution for organizing, optimizing, distributing and tracking font collections. It serves any size user community and is available via cloud subscription or on-premise network license.
Server 7 is built on Insider’s breakthrough object-based FontFlex(TM) technology, which brings new levels of font-management performance, scalability, flexibility, power and simplicity to organizations of any size. No technology does more to simplify creative workflow, bring consistent control, eliminate font corruption, and help organizations comply with their licenses.
All-New Architecture, Server Manager and Connected Client
The all-new FontAgent Server 7 features:
* Advanced, object-based technology for simplicity, flexibility and power
* A new client interface that’s more powerful, visual and intuitive
* Simple, browser-based administration and font distribution
* FontDNA(TM) fingerprinting with integrity and duplicate checking
* Unrivaled insight into font metadata
* Real-time font usage tracking and license compliance management
* Simple enterprise directory integration
* Industry-leading performance, scale, reliability and sync speed
FontFlex Object-Based Power and Simplicity:
FontFlex technology integrates the basic objects of font management–fonts, sets, users, groups, font licenses and directories–into a firm foundation for enterprise font management. Admins then invite users, and import and assign fonts. FontAgent Server does the rest, making sure that everyone gets the fonts they’re supposed to have, and that the organization stays in compliance. To ease administration, admins can define sets of fonts and organize users into role, team or project-based groups.
All-New, Modern Interface:
The FontAgent Connected Client lets users preview fonts in their choice of text and colors using Table, List, Player, Compare and Glyph views. The viewers present font slide shows, waterfalls, paragraphs, comparisons, and character sets that let users drag glyphs directly into their documents. The FontAgent Client also supports font auto-activation Adobe Creative Cloud, QuarkXPress and scores of other desktop applications.
FontDNA: Unrivaled Font Integrity and Metadata Insight:
FontAgent servers and clients include FontDNA, Insider’s new font-integrity engine that uses 28 properties to fingerprint fonts, and eliminate corrupt and duplicate ones–so users enjoy top performance and so their documents render and print precisely. FontDNA also exposes all available font metadata including font names, formats, styles, metrics, filenames, locations, activation, ratings, comments–and makes all of it easy to view and search.
Admins use the new browser-based FontAgent Server Manager to manage fonts, sets, users, groups, licenses, and distribution permissions with point-and-click simplicity. Using those FontFlex objects, the server syncs each user’s fonts and sets the next time they connect to the server.
Track Real-Time Usage and License:
To ensure license compliance and control costs, server admins can view real-time details about fonts, their associated licenses and who is using them. They can track license agreements, purchase histories and seat counts, receive alerts when they fall out of compliance.
Always Available, Always Efficient:
Users are productive at all times, whether they are connected or not, and even if the server is offline. Advanced I/O multi-threading minimizes network traffic and maximizes performance. Fast, incremental updates use minimal bandwidth and support slow connections with remote users.
New smart support for Active, Open and LDAP directory services lets admins integrate with enterprise directories in minutes and control who can upload and distribute fonts, create users and groups, manage licenses and view font-usage data.
Performance, Scale and Reliability:
Built on the strength, flexibility and stability of J2EE, FontAgent Server runs on Mac, Windows and Linux platforms, FontAgent Server 7 brings font control and consistency to user communities of any size.
V7 Macintosh servers and clients require macOS Yosemite, El Capitan or Sierra (V10.10 or later). Contact Insider for Windows and Linux server requirements. The Windows client will be available in Q3.
