Becky G Honors Britney Spears with a “Slave 4 U” inspired performance, meanwhile Brit releases a brand new song herself!
Britney Spears is enjoying quite the day — she released a hot new song just in time for it to be our go-to summer jam, AND singer Becky G just paid tribute to her “Slave 4 U” performance.
Becky G came out for her Premios Juventud performance this week to perform her first Spanish single, “Sola”, and while the song itself is super fun and catchy, the thing that really got us obsessing over her performance was her tribute to Britney Spears’ 2001 VMAs performance, where Brit made history by singing “Slave 4 U” with a giant python around her neck. Check out how Becky G honored the iconic pop moment…
It takes some serious guts to hold a giant yellow python during a live show, so good for her for committing to the moment! That being said, she did look slightly uncomfortable while doing it, aaaand the camera pulled out for the majority of the 10 seconds she held it for, so we can’t say that it’ll be as an iconic a performance as Brit’s was back in 2001. But it was still a super hot performance and we’re sure Becky did Britney proud. Especially because that multi-colored body suit gave us all kinds of “Oops! I did it again!” red body suit throwback feels!
Speaking of Britney, the princess of pop just dropped a brand new single today that is without a doubt THE song of the summer. #SorryJT. And um, in case you didn’t know, this is HUGE news because Brit hasn’t released a single since 2015’s “Pretty Girls”. And I’ll just tell you right now: This new song is even better. So prepare to listen and love her newest sexy summer jam, “Make Me”…
So. Effing. Good. Obviously Vegas has been good for Britney, because she’s been killing it as of late– from her epic Billboard Music Awards performance to now this! “Make Me” is the perfect “She’s officially back in the game” track, and we couldn’t be happier. Brit collaborated with G-Eazy for the track, who you’ll also recognize from his rapping skills on the hit “Me, Myself, and I”. And we gotta say, of all of the collabs she’s made in the past few years, this might be our favorite so far…
Okay guys, so now I wanna know–a) what did you think of Becky G.’s “Slave 4 U” tribute, and b) how much are you loving “Make Me”? Should we officially name it THE song of the summer? Let me hear all of your thoughts in the comments and after that click here to check out Nicki vs. Miley on Diss Track. Thanks so much for hanging out with me on News Feed, I’m your host Tiffany Taylor and I’ll see you guys next time!
