Gamasutra – Nintendo wants players to turn back time with the NES Mini
In a blast from the past, Nintendo has announced plans to bring back the NES this November.
Dubbed the Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System, the revamped NES is an ultra-compact reimagining of the classic ’80s console that features HDMI support.
The system will come bundled with 30 built-in classics, such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, and Kirby’s Adventure.
There’s no word yet on whether developers will be able to create new experiences for the bite-sized box, but Nintendo has confirmed the mini NES controller can be used to play Virtual Console NES games on the Wii U or Wii.
Co-op play can also be enabled by plugging in another NES mini gamepad or Wii classic controller. The system will hit shelves on November 11, and will retail for $60.
