Matthew McConaughey ‘The Dark Tower’ First Look
Fandom Fare – We’ve got your first look at Matthew McConaughey in The Dark Tower! Next year’s The Dark Tower movie has revealed its first look at the “Man in Black”. Production on next year’s adaptation of the Stephen King fantasy series The Dark Tower took a break from its South African shoot to film in New York City’s Madison Square Park where fans of the series got their first look at Matthew McConaughey’s “Man in Black”, also sometimes known as “Randall Flagg”. McConaughey is definitely living up to his character’s name sporting all-black attire along with jet black dyed hair and long fingernails. For those of you unfamiliar with the story, McConaughey’s “Randall Flagg” is the film’s main villain who is a powerful sorcerer with supernatural abilities who attempts to stop the film’s hero, Idris Elba’s “Roland Deschain” from reaching the title Tower in order to claim it for himself and become a god. It’s unclear where in the story this newly shot footage takes place as there have been conflicting reports on the film’s timeline. King previously stated that the film will take place in the middle of the story rather than follow the events of the first book, The Gunslinger and director Nikolaj Arcel has stated the film will largely take place in the modern world. Most recently though, King tweeted out a message that suggested the film could actually be a continuation of the original story rather than a direct adaptation. In addition to Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba, The Dark Tower also stars Abbey Lee as the film’s female lead, Tirana, Jackie Earle Haley as “Sayre”, Fran Kranz as “Pimli”, Claudia Kim as “Arra Champignon” and Katheryn Winnick in an as yet unnamed role. The Dark Tower is set to arrive in theaters on February 17th. So what do you think of our first look at Matthew McConaughey as the evil “Man in Black”? Does he live up to your expectations?
